BRAND NEW Toronto Tap Dance Classes This March

Tap Dance Choreographer Shawn Byfield

Good news: I’m personally teaching a brand new, super short, three-week tap dance session in MARCH.

WHEN IS IT:

March 15th, 22nd and 29th (SUNDAYS)

Since closing the doors to my BDX studio last year, I currently rent a cozy flamenco dance school (Carmen Romero’s studio, she’s actually quite famous) for all classes, rehearsals, etc.

They have NO PROBLEM with us making lots of noise with our tap shoes. I’m teaching all three classes… Wanna join the madness?

WHERE IS IT:

228 Merton Street, Toronto
(see the map)

HOW MUCH IS IT:

Only $75 + tax man

WHAT TIME IS IT:

“What are you, crazy?! Why so cheap, Shawn?”

Because I’m travelling as an emcee and judge for dance competitions across the Country for the next 2 months. Woohoo! Which makes this March session super short. Bite sized.  And I probably won’t start up again until sometime in June.

But if you’re looking to get back into it, wanna get active again, refresh your brain and rhythm skills, get ready for auditions…

…or just wanna be in a positive space that’s more fun than a barrel of monkeys, this is perfect for you.

HOW TO GET IN IT?

Simply press a link below to save your spot. (Once classes fill up, the link will say SOLD OUT)

12pm INTERMEDIATE Tap

1:15pm ELEMENTARY Tap

Share this info… Because someone you know is probably looking for tap!

This Is Important Advice – Not Just For Anyone In Entertainment

Shawn Byfield success coach shares advice

SOME ADVICE I SHARED at Groove Street Dance Convention:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➡️ It’s okay to say NO. It’s okay to say NO 🙅🏾‍♂️ to the things, people, experiences etc that don’t serve you, or help you stay true to yourself.

ALSO:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➡️ Entertainment is a tough industry. With that being said, take care of your mental 🧠 health, because you will hear a lot of NO’s yourself. Develop mental toughness, while being kind to yourself, because you need and deserve it!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Does this help?

What Happens When You Don’t Have All The Answers?

Shawn Byfield at Toronto Kids Fashion Week casting

I DON’T HAVE all the answers.

🤷🏾‍♂️⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Nobody does!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Not you. Not me. Nobody. And that’s ok. You’re NOT meant to have all the answers.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s the QUESTIONS ⁉️ we ask that make life interesting.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And… not having answers is the cure for boredom, because you’ll always have something to do!

“This Is Impossible?” Here’s The Single Question To Ask To Get Started

NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE. It all comes down to one word: DESIRE. ✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The question “Is it even possible?” then becomes: “How bad do you want it?”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because if you have an unruly fire burning 🔥🔥 within you, and your desire is big enough, you’ll figure out how to make it happen.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Turn impossible into ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
* I’M POSSIBLE! *

Don’t Be Afraid To Stretch Regularly – Here’s Why

Shawn Byfield encourages you to stretch regularly, in more ways than one.
Shawn Byfield encourages you to stretch regularly, in more ways than one.

STRETCH! Yes it’s important to stretch physically, and regularly. But it’s even more important to stretch your capabilities.

The sad but true reality is, the majority of people around you stopped stretching once they graduated from school. And when we stop stretching… we stop growing.

Don’t be like the majority.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you want to grow anything, don’t fall into the usual trap of limiting creativity because other people did/do it a certain way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🏹 Don’t be afraid to push boundaries. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🏹 Don’t be afraid to challenge the norm.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🏹 Don’t be afraid to stretch your limits. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The more you stretch the bow, the further the arrow shoots! 🎯

What will you stretch this week?

ATTENTION LEARNERS: Five Lessons From My Intense Week

The past few days have been insanity. From emceeing Toronto International Youth Dance Festival, creating a new business, leading dance workouts, teaching tap dance and hip hop classes, plus choreographing six pieces for dance competition… my plate (and brain) are extremely busy.

For you learners out there, 🎓 here’s five lessons from my intense week:

  1. DETAILS. Paying a little attention can make a massive difference!
  2. “I can’t” is not an answer. Just try. “I can’t” is the most self-defeating word in the English language. Just TRY! What if you can? What if what you think is impossible, IS possible? Shouldn’t you at least find out?
  3. What you focus on expands. What you think about, you bring about.
  4. Stay hydrated. Make time for water breaks.
  5. Don’t be so focused on the steps that you forget to actually DANCE.

What else can you add to this list?
