BDX Featured Dance Studio On WantToDance Website

Byfield Dance eXperience (BDX) in Toronto celebrated their one year anniversary as a studio at the end of October.

A veteran of stage and screen, Shawn Byfield knew he would always open a space for dancers of all levels. His goal? To open up a place where regular people can just come and throw down and meet other people who share the same passion for dance.

While the studio is open to everyone, BDX is geared to the adults since, according to Byfield, there are already places for kids and teenagers to go and take classes.

“What about the rest of us who watch So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing with the Stars? There’s no place for them to…” Read rest of feature on Want To Dance website

Don’t miss out Toronto! The Step Up 3D release date is this Friday August 6th. But if you’re one of the lucky few, you’ll get to see a VIP film screening tonight at the Scotiabank Theatre, in the heart of downtown Toronto.

The BDX Street Team has been actively involved in promoting the film on, well where else- the streets. The fun group has been dancing, interacting and giving out swag for the film. To top things off, the team will also be (shhhh!) doing a fun performance during the VIP screening.

If you’ve seen the previous Step Up movies, you’ll know to expect intricate choreography and stellar performances. This film in particular will bring out your inner bboy. Step Up 3D welcomes back Alyson Stoner, and also showcases the talents of a large cast of popular dancers including favourite stand outs from So You Think You Can Dance and Director Jon Chu‘s group The LXD.

As a bonus, all students from Byfield Dance Experience will get FREE admission to the VIP screening tonight, with a BDX student card.

So if you’re a fan of dance and need some inspiration, don’t miss this energetic movie.

Don’t Miss Turn The Beat Around On TV!

I’m dancing and acting in this upcoming MTV film, “Turn The Beat Around.” Watch the trailer…

Hope you didn’t blink, or you missed me. 😉 It’s a story about a lovely young dancer struggling for the opportunity to live her dream of starting a disco club.

Directed by Bradley Walsh, this film features Toronto talent galore! Including a few cool cats from So You Think You Can Dance Canada’s first season. We had a blast working together last summer.

Watch us in action February 26th. Stay tuned to CTV and MTV for exact times in your area.

So You Think You Can Dance Wednesdays

We just had our first “So You Think You Can Dance Wednesdays” at Six Degrees Nightclub. And I’m so excited about the future of this event

So You Think You Can Dance Wednesdays!

So You Think You Can Dance Wednesdays!

It was a smaller Toronto crowd at the uber-cool night spot, but that didn’t stop a thing. Hey, more free drinks for us!

The club had breakdance and bboy footage playing on the jumbo video screen all night long. Sweet. I taught a super fun beginner hip hop dance class. Awesome. DJ Craig Nice then spun wicked hip hop, r&b, house and other club bangers, makin’ sure we had wet clothes by the end of the night. Fun times!

What an awesome view I had from the stage, seeing the entire dance floor filled with people enjoying a hip hop class. A whole club where everyone loves dance. Toronto doesn’t have much happening on Wednesday nights, but this will for sure be the spot for people who want to socialize, let loose, throw down hard, or simply learn to dance.

And some of my hip hop class students came out to support. Thanks gang! This is an event I hope to last a very long time. Like, come on- where else can you go and throw down hard, and take a dance class without feeling intimidated? And it’s ok to be gross and sweaty?

So You Think You Can Dance Wednesdays, that’s where! 🙂 I’m still buzzing from the love. Plus, THE Chris James, video director and film wiz extrodinairre, brought his video equipment and took some video footage. I’ll get that up soon.

If you came out, what did you think?
