Dance Classes For Beginners? You Bet Your Two Left Feet We Do

Yes, we have beginner dance classes in Toronto

Yes, we have beginner dance classes in Toronto

I really don’t know what it is. Start of the new year? The cold weather? Too much holiday stuffing? Lately, a few friends have asked me if I teach beginner dance classes. I almost (note: ALMOST) want to say

“What the funk, have you been living under a rock?”

Because I’ve only been offering tap dance and hip hop classes for beginners here in Toronto since, hmmm… 2004. I had to look that up. That’s almost 10 YEARS. I’ve been teaching much longer than that, but I guess some haven’t been paying attention.

Which means I haven’t been doing my best letting everyone know. So.

Let me officially mention here and clear up any doubt:

YES, I offer beginner dance classes. Right in downtown Toronto. I have classes for the total newbie. Dance lessons for the awkward and clumsy. Classes for people that know they have two left feet and didn’t know there’s a right. Classes for black people. And… classes for white people.

Praise Sweet Baby Jesus

Yeah, I said it. If you’re here reading this, you know what I’m talking about. There’s no shame. Because dance doesn’t discriminate. And neither do I.

ALL PEOPLE deserve to dance! Especially YOU. Can I get an Amen?

If you’re thinking of dancing but have been nervous or self conscious, don’t be. Just bring your awkward Liz Lemon dance moves to my studio Byfield Dance Experience. I won’t make any promises…

…but we’ll see what we can do. Deal?

DOCUMENTED PROOF: Dancing Helps Build Confidence

Here’s DOUCMENTED PROOF that a dance lesson helps to build confidence.

Not just women, but men also experience the esteem-boosting satisfaction a dance class brings. Not many other activities give you the freedom and openness to pose spontaneously!

Remember when we were young and fearless? We would do things and say things without inhibitions. Those were the days!

But then something changed… As we grew, we became more and more sensitive to how other people would perceive us. We developed a safety bubble to avoid ridicule and rejection. We stopped being bold, started being safe, and lost some of our confidence.

Take a look at the photos. As you can see, the power of dance allows you to recapture your strong, inner child.

From now on, know inside yourself there’s no need to hold back. Starting today, embrace your confidence. Let it out, and just pose!

What Would Your Super Dance Power Be?

OK, this is good.

So if lightning struck you & you got super dance powers, what would be your best skill? Crazy flexibility? Sexy hairography? Crazy headspins? The ability to pick up fast choreography without panicking?

I’d be able to instantly assimilate new styles, like Neo in The Matrix.

I would watch a dance genre, then immediately be able to perform all the steps, gestures and style. I’d just watch the dance once, absorb the technique… and ta-da! Now watch me.

What would your secret super weapon be?

Dancing With Sesame Street

Dancing With Sesame Street

Can you tell me how to DANCE- how to dance with Sesame Street!

Ok, this is a cute video. If Elmo, Abby and Cookie Monster can freely dance without a care in the world, what are YOU waiting for? Clearly they’re proof that dancing keeps us all looking young. 😉

Here’s where to find dance lessons in Toronto

Don’t be intimidated by the show stopping dance moves by the Sesame Street bunch. I’m sure they’ve been practicing those moves for years. You’ll get YOUR dance skills up in no time.

But I must warn you- Cookie Monster raised the bar… so you better get started!
