May 25th is National Tap Dance Day
National Tap Dance Day is here! This tradition honours the birthday of Bill “Bojangles” Robinson. Born in Richmond, Virginia, you’ve seen the left-footed tap dancer shuffling up stairs, sharing his giant smile (often with Shirley Temple) and paved the way for Black entertainers to perform in film, on stages, and publicly around the world.

National Tap Dance Day was signed in to American law in 1989. The day is now celebrated on an international scale, with tap dance lessons, shows, films and events being presented globally.
To celebrate, this May 25th expert tap dance choreographer Shawn Byfield is hosting a LIVE online tap dance lesson for all his Shuffle With Shawn! students.

Shawn will also be a featured guest on The Dance Bug Show, airing LIVE across North America May 25th at 3pm where he’ll share a fun contest.

Happy National Tap Dance Day. Shim-Sham and shuffle with a smile!
