Dance Lights Up The Stage At Hamilton24 Festival

Hamilton24 Dance Festival: Shawn Byfield, Jennifer Robichaud and Gary Smith judge competitors

Did you miss the Hamilton24 DANCE festival?

This was the first year the week long festival had a dance competition. Performers were given a short list of requirements, 24 hours in advance- that they must incorporate into a dance routine and compete to win a prize.

It’s amazing to see what creative solutions the dancers presented on stage, given such a short time frame. Solos, duets and groups lit up Hamilton’s Sir John A McDonald stage. Dancers received constructive feedback and encouragement from expert dance judges Gary Smith, Jennifer Robichaud and myself.

A loving round of applause from a small but supportive audience filled the room for each performance. I’m sure with added buzz and publicity support, participants and audience sizes and will grow for next year’s festival.

Congratulations to all the participants. Kudos to Hamilton24 Festival Founder Martinus Geleynse and the passionate creative team behind the scenes. This event enriches Hamilton’s arts and culture, and provides a platform for emerging artists to showcase their craft while connecting with the community.

Hamilton truly does have talent!
