Hey Toronto friends,
In order to generate new leads and dance business from the locals, one of the tasks I’m working on right now is signage for Toronto’s new dance studio, BDX. Take a look:
Example #1 on brushed silver

Example #2 on white coroplast

Example #3 on clear plexiglass

If you were a new student looking for a great dance lesson or dance studio, which sign would you be most attracted to personally, and why?

Thank you thank you everyone!
I’m gonna use all three in different places. The wordiest one will be outside for now, to see how it works over the next couple of months. I would prefer something like brushed steel outside, but don’t want to:
— A) Scare anyone off because it looks to bad ass; and
— B) Have to pay big bucks to make a new one if it gets vandalized- I don’t know the umm… integrity of the kids in the neighbourhood yet
Sign-a-rama is working on them as I type this. Look for the signs next week!
Hi Shawn,
I personally like sign 3. The word “Dance” stands out and catches your attention. That’s what draws you in. The colours make it more interesting and eye catching than sign 1. Sign 2 is too busy/wordy. Sign 3 is simplistic and to the point, however, I think it would be a good idea to have your website/address listed on it. I like the right justification of the last line. It makes you read the whole sign, rather than having everything blend in like sign 1. Sign 1 looks more sophisticated though, so it depends what look you’re going for!
Good luck with your decision. Looking forward to dancing in your new studio!
I like Examples 1 & 3 for different reasons. Example 1’s black on brushed stainless gives the customer the impression you’re serious and you mean business (and I agree with Charlotte – I like the element of badass). Example 3 is fresh, clean, and welcoming and the colour is eye-catching. Have you considered a black background with your white, red, and blue lettering? That configuration is easy to read from the street. Perhaps consider having the stainless option at reception and the plexiglass option on the exterior? One more comment about Example 3 – the bottom content ‘Have Fun. Make Friends. Get Funky’ should be centred (b/c it looks like it’s aligned right-justified). Also, have you considered using a vertical slash instead of a period so it looks like this…
Have Fun | Make Friends | Get Funky
Just a thought.
If you go with Example 3 you might want to include your website address b/c it’s not there now.
I like Example 2 the least b/c it’s too wordy, and it might get dirty fast.
Looking forward to the grand opening!
Ahhh, good points Charlotte, especially about the “hardcore” and colder nature of the stainless steel.
I like clean white also. The stainless steel will be inside, and the clear plexiglass will be at the reception. I was thinking about stainless steel outside instead of the white, but I think the colour grabs attention more.
Anyone else?
I like them in this order….
1. Example #3 – The sign is colourful and clean looking. The clear plexiglass will give off a very new impression I think..
2. Example #2 – Personally, I like white signage with colour. Its really the same reasons for why I like Example #3 except I feel like this sign is easier to read? I don’t know where you’re putting the sign so Example #3 could just as well be easy to read but regardless, I think the white coroplast would look spiffyyyy
3. Example #1 – I feel this sign is so hardcore. I do like it, and you’re classes ARE hardcore awesome. So it could be justified, y’know? It just gives off a different impression compared to the other two. It does look very badass though, yet I get a bit of a colder vibe from it.
